Not sure what to say?

As the years pass by and I get older and memories fade I often reflect on my life and remember people who left an impact on my life and the way I practice medicine and take care of my patients, I always remember Dr. Strauss who instilled the love of medicine and service of community in every fellow and resident he taught.

For us who were fortunate enough to be trained by Dr. Strauss he has not passed away , he lives with us in every patient we see , in every consult and every patient we help.
His kindness and care touched all .

A remarkable man who taught his fellows not only the science of Medicine but also the art and humanity of Medicine.
A kind and gentle man who identified with the weak and poor in Brooklyn.
He will be greatly missed.

Gene Straus was my medical resident when I was a medical student in 1968. He exemplified the type of caring clinician that I desired to become. I recall introducing him to my son at that time. My son who is not in the medical field recalled immediately all of the many wonderful things that I used to say about this inspirational medical...

Eugene was my friend. He was a brilliant man who loved to dance and laugh I am deeply saddened by his passing. His smile was radiant and infectious. His soul was huge! His generosity unsurpassed.

All of us who knew him will miss him.

Dr. Strauss was the teacher perexcellance, who had the talent of keeping young fidgety GI fellows/residents till 9-10PM on rounds at Kings County without understanding how time has passed. He touched so many young lives in addition to his incredible carrier in GI endocrinology. I will though keep him in my memory rock'n rolling with Bette in our GI parties.
Our condolences from the VA to Bette Korman, his wife and his children/grandchildren. We will make sure that his memory lives at SUNY.

A compassionate physician who instilled the Hippocratic values of medicine in all his GI fellows, he will be sorely missed.

At our 50th high school reunion weekend three years ago I had the pleasure of spending that Friday evening with Gene and Bette during our drive to Eliot Mitler's home. During that time we caught up on high school events from fifty years earlier, but more importantly we learned about each others lives over the many years since.
I discovered what a special human being Gene had become and of his many accomplishments...simply overwhelming.
My heartfelt condolences to his children and...
