Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Werges, Eugene M., baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Beloved husband of Sharon Werges (nee Feld). Loving father of Lori (Gary) Summers and Michael (Jennifer) Werges. Proud grandpa of Jake, Brennen (Tessa), Zach, Adyson, Taylor, Tess and Michael. Dear brother of Jeanine Schuster, Evelyn Bennish and Robert Werges. Dear uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Eugene valued his family more than anything in life. His kindness, compassion and hard work are just a few of his many admirable traits that have made an indelible impression on so many lives. Because of his ability to positively influence others, many friends looked up to Eugene as a role model and father figure. He was proud of his craft and worked hard to earn the position of Superintendent Bricklayer. He was the longest standing member of the Bricklayers Local #1. Eugene was patriotic and a proud supporter of law enforcement. He was particularly passionate about hunting and was often seen dressed in camouflage.

His legacy and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services: Funeral Mass at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eureka, on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following the Mass at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Eureka Police Officer Support Fund. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home - Eureka, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Not sure what to say?

Condolences Aunt Sharon. So sorry for your loss! Uncle Eugene was such a great person. Reminded me of Grandpa Werges.

Gene was one of the best men I have ever had the pleasure to know and call my friend. We always enjoyed our talks about our families and hunting, he especially loved helping out the police department thru fundraisers and with the canine workshops. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

We are SO very saddened and shocked to hear of Gene's passing. He and Nelson enjoyed talking hunting and work. Nelson always enjoyed taking him a load of rock or dirt and talking . He was such a gentle and kind person. He will be missed by neighbors and family. Our sympathy to all.

If the world were full of men like Gene, how lucky we would be.
A hard working, giving and honest man. Loved his family and will be missed.

Gene was one of the most genuine man I had ever met. Every time he came into my store I got a new hunting story from him. From what I know about him, it seemed that everything he did was always to help someone else. He will be missed. Mike & family, please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.

So glad we met Taylor’s grandpa at her Eureka HS grad party!!! She is so proud of years with him and his support!! Hope to be with Sharon and the family soon!

Gene Werges was the most hard working compassionate man I have ever known. It has been an absolute pleasure to know him and call him my friend.
We had many conversations about our deer hunting exploits. I will miss him greatly. I will pray for all of the family as they grieve a great loss in their lives. Please take care of each other.

I'm proud to say I knew Mr. Werges. He always held out a helping hand, a word of encouragement, a positive attitude and lead by example. Truly a fine man. God bless and many thanks for all you did for us at the Eureka Police Department.

Mike (Jen),

I cannot imagine coming up with the words to express how sorry I am for your loss. I know how close you guys all are with Gene. He was an absolute delight of a human. I’ll cherish the time that I got to hang with him during the good all days. Deepest sympathies to you and all of your family.

Reach out if we can do anything to serve you guys.
