WILLIAMS, Eugene C. "Gene" - Of Flint, age 78, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Berean Baptist Church, 6705 Rustic Ridge in Grand Blanc, Reverend Claude Nichols and Reverend Leonard McMillen officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or Berean Baptist Church. Visitation 10AM-8PM Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Williams will be at the church from 10AM Wednesday until the time of the service. He was born in Flint, Michigan on June 26, 1924, the son of Frederick and Alice Williams and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Ruth L. Severance on September 18, 1946. Mr. Williams was employed by GM Plant Security and retired in 1986. Surviving are wife, Ruth; 6 children, Laurie and husband Jared Kirby, Walt and wife Mary Williams, Diane and husband Vern Moore, Richard and wife Deborah Williams, Stephen and wife Joyce Williams Scott Williams; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Stella Alverson, Mina Stevens, Irene Lukes, Annabelle Hayhoe, Charlene Thieson and Arlene Bailey; brothers, Sam Williams and Jack Ames; aunt, Martha Engel; several nieces, nephews, fishing buddy, Bob Allen and good friends, Dean Beasley and Lyle Buchanan. He was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Jared W. Kirby, Jr. and Brian Kirby; brother, Dick Ames and sister, Lottie Richardson.
