Not sure what to say?

When I was with him, he always treated me with the upmost respect and kindness, in passing years I thought about him if he was still alive and discovered today that he passed 18 years ago, I was a orphan at Shawn Acres when I was a student at Fairview High School between the years of 69 to 72 , and in 1972 after graduation I entered into the military service with the Army and on one of my vacation time I visited coach Winters when I was in my early twenties. He always comforted me during my...

fairview class of 69. im 74 now and hes still one of the best people ive been around. life is an adventure and Gene was a good part of mine.

I loved Gene Winters. He was my friend, coach, and protector in High School. He always had my back and always made me feel special whenever in his presence. I would probably not made it without him throughout High School. Whenever I felt down or overwhelmed, he would allow me to come sit in his office and just relax and feel better. He was a true gentleman in all the senses of the word. Say hi to Clarence Moore, Mr. Galiardi, Blair Brown and all the rest you are now coaching.

To know Gene, was to love him... Thank you & Semper Fi, Coach Winters... R.I.P. dear friend & brother Marine...thank you for your patriotic, courageous service... JOHN DeMOSS, Class of '66...

I was thinking about Coach Winters the other week, wondering if he was still around. Got my answer. He was a good man, glad I knew him
John Newton class of 1972

I SPENT 4 YEARS AT FAIRVIEW (65- 69) IN FOOTBALL AND GYMNASTICS WITH COACH WINTERS.HE SET A FINE EXAMPLE OF HOW TO BE AN ADULT AND A LEADER . HE COACHED WITH HIS SENSE OF HUMOR. HE WAS EASY GOING YET STRICT.I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO DO MORE FOR ANY TEACHER OR COACH.

I was saddened to here of Coach Winters passing. He was a huge influence on my life. I don't think I would have made it through high school, if he had not been there. I graduated class of 68 Fairview. I carry a part of him in who I am and I know others who feel the same.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Winters. He was a teacher of mine at Cornell Heights and at Fairview High School in the sixties. He was a wonderful man and has always been at the top of my favorite teachers list!
