Not sure what to say?

My encounters with Mr. Wizer came from times at Our Lady of the Lake when he always greeted my girls Madeleine and Caroline with a smile. But most poignant were my talks with him in his office at his grocery store. It was like being in the presence of my own father. With each passing day, I miss him more and more. His humility, integrity, humor, and thankfulness for all that life gave him, without complaint or any trace of lament when he became ill, speak so loudly to me to always do the...

I was absolutely shocked to learn of Gene's
death! I've known him since I was seven yrs
old... I thought he was so grown up. Through out the years I came to know Gene as a kind gentle soul!

I just learned of Gene's death today while on a vacation. Both my father, Ted Sauer, and I worked for Gene and Jim Wizer in the 60s and 70s. Gene was a good man and will be missed. I learned a real deal from him during my time as a maintenance worker for the shopping center.

Gene was a humble man who loved his family.
He was spiritual beyond compare.
Silently generous.
Great sense of humor as wel.
The Bill Powers Family misses him.

I was neighbors with the Wizers growing up and Gene put on the best neighborhood Fireworks Show every year! He was like a kid in a candy store , until our roof caught on fire Ha! I will always remember him playing jokes on his children and working his butt off!!
May he be running around upstairs , playing jokes on people and laughing!
A toast to you Gene!
You and your family are in our thoughts!

Gene, was so kind & welcoming in a quiet way. He was one of God's people's on earth sharing goodness & his Catholic faith with all. My love & prayers to Jan & family.

I knew Gene through Legatus. He was always the model of a gentleman and a gentle man.

I started working as a 16 y/o at Wizers in 1977 under Gene and his dad Jim. Great people and great memories. My wife and I would run into Gene around town and at UP events in the almost 40 years that followed. He'd always stop to say hello. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the privilidge of knowing Gene and his family. What a great man. Glad he is at peace. Love and Prayers to the family.
