To the donato Family:
Mrs. DeFazio is now one of Dunmore High School's legends. Respect for others and discipline were what she commanded. In retrospect, she knew what was best for the student body. The values she impressed on us are not taught or dealt with in schools today. I dont think anyone will really know how many lives she influenced. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. DeFazio was one of the most dedicated educators I have ever encountered. She not only commanded respect, she earned it with her no nonsense approach to learning and discipline. You earned an A+ in the of life.

I met Mrs. D in '53 as a member of her Latin class and graduated in '56. Her Latin class was of great benefit to me for many years in my career in science. She was a truly "Most Unforgetable Person". My sincerest regards to her family. Mrs D. was a Woman that was an outstanding example to be followed. I sincerely believe that having her as a teacher contributed to the successes I have had in my lifetime. RIP Mrs. D.

Mrs. DeFazio was "The Principal" of Dunmore High School up until Tuesday 1/25/11. Though many have held that title since her retirement in 1977 , to all of us over 50 she was our principal. A truly remarkable woman , she ruled with an iron hand but a gentle heart. She commanded respect and more so she gave it . She was proud of DHS , and she made us proud to say we went there. I worked under Mrs. DeFazio as a teacher in 1968, and she was always so nice to me. When I met her years later she started me on my second career (after motherhood) by remarking: "All that talent going to waste". I have never known anyone to be a better principal of a high school. When Mrs. DeFazio was the principal it was all about education. She was an amazing administrator and disciplinarian. Mrs. DeFazio was the greatest role model a young woman in Dunmore--or anywhere, for that matter--could have possibly had. (Even if we didn't always listen to her!) Anyone who went to Dunmore High during the many years (though not enough, it could never have been enough) when she was principal owed her a lifetime of gratitude.
