Eunice R. Wade STAUNTON
Eunice Lorene (Rowe) Wade, 89, widow of Clyde Aubrey Wade, of Greenview Drive, Staunton, died on Wednesday morning, December 1, 2010, at Augusta Alzheimer's and Dementia Center in Fishersville.
She was born on November 8, 1921, on Walker's Creek in Rockbridge County, a daughter of Franklin O. and Floretta (Conner) Rowe.
She retired from Leggett Department Stores and was a long-time active member of Third Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Women's Church Group until her health declined. She was a Volunteer driver for Road to Recovery Cancer Program and a member of the Golden Goofers Dance Club. She loved gardening, cooking and creating special desserts for her family and friends.
Surviving are her son, C.A. Wade and his wife, Denise Wade, of Waynesboro; a daughter, Beverley (Wade) VandeWater and her husband, Dr. James VandeWater, of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Gerri (Wade) Clark and her husband, Wayne Clark of Staunton, Robin (Wade) Rose and her husband, Mike Rose, of Chicago, Illinois, Holly VandeWater of Charlottesville and Derek Vandewater of Lynchburg; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Naomi (Rowe) Neff, Vivian (Rowe) Parrish, Maxine (Rowe) Robinson, Joyce (Rowe) Dickerson and her husband, Richard Dickerson, all of Staunton, and Glenna (Rowe) Obaugh of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Third Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Jack B. Wilkers. Burial will be private.
There will be no public viewing.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Henry Funeral Home.
