I remember my Aunt Eva best from the days we lived together at Grandma Nelson's house in Denver. Circumstances were such that my father had retired from the Air Force after twenty years or more and we left Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana to move to Denver. I was going to be a senior in high school, my brother Dale was in middle school and brother Steve had gone to work or off to the Army, the Viet Nam war was raging. Aunt Eva also found herself in need of shelter for herself...

Today in reading Angie's beautiful obituary I found myself sitting in Mabelle Nelson's kitchen on Race eating her wonderful Spam sandwiches with Angie, Chip, Allen, my mother and Eva. It was a pleasure to have those memories to go back to. When your young you don't see what other people see just a women who is like a second mother to you and her children are your sisters and brothers. This is what stays with me over the years and miles. We never forget where we came from. Eva was sweet caring...
