Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors Inc Obituary

Evangeline "Evan" Andrews, 63, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away on Dec. 30, 2012, after a well-fought battle with ovarian cancer. Two funeral services will be held to celebrate her life. The first at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Cristo Rey Parish in Santa Fe, N.M. The second will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Christ the King, 1708 Horseshoe Dr., in Pueblo, Colo., with Msgr. Tom Adrians as celebrant. Evan was born in Santa Fe on September 5, 1949. She graduated from Loretto High School in Santa Fe and continued on to receive her bachelor's degree in elementary education from New Mexico State where her love for education began. She went on to obtain a master's degree in elementary education from East Central University in Ada, Okla., and ultimately earned her administrative certification from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. After meeting at New Mexico State and dating for five years, Evan married Raymond Forrest Andrews on Jan. 2, 1971. Their romance continued for 43 years. Evan's passion for education flourished through the years, as she taught elementary students in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. As the principal at Eva Baca Elementary School and Fountain International Magnet School in Pueblo for nearly 15 years, Evan found her true calling amongst her wonderful staff and students. Evan is survived by her husband, Ray; mother, Amelia Catanach; daughters, Renee Robinson and Stacey Sepp; sister, Stephanie McDonald and brother-in-law, Louis McDonald; sons-in-law, Tim Robinson and Tim Sepp; grandchildren, Kai Sepp and Sloane Robinson; nephew, Ian McDonald; niece, Kimberly McDonald; and other family and friends. Evan is preceded in death by her father, Alfredo Catanach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation for ovarian cancer research at P.O. Box 6147, Denver, CO 80206. The family is also working to establish an educational foundation in Evan's name for which details will be announced later. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com
