I think of Van and Carol everyday. They were close friends and I miss them.

I had the pleasure of living next door to Van and Carol for several years. We grew to be great friends that continued after we moved. I remember Van´s dogs and his love for animals and all things. Carol would tell people,"He´s my brother", talking about me. I spent many days at their ranch in Wemberly, TX, swimming in their pool and petting their many horses. Van´s Greek food was out of this world! I remember, after he and Carol bought their ranch, Van laid the most beautiful Italian...

I was telling my friends about him and was looking to find classes but came up short. I then searched his name and found out about his passing, what a shock. Dr. Van was one of the best teachers I´ve ever had. The class in real life was relatively short as the pandemic had us switch online. But during in real life I was telling him my grandpa´s died before I was born, and he allowed me to call him GrandVan as my grandpa. I feel so lucky to be able to say I had a grandpa having met him. Van Voutsinas, one of the kindest, friendliest, most caring and erudite men in the world has gone to heaven.
I am privileged to have known him as a gentleman, friend and colleague. God rest his tireless soul.
