Brooklawn Funeral Home - Rocky Hill Obituary

Evdoxia “Soula” Bitsounis  died on April 20, 2014 from the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.  She was born in Georgia, Soviet Union on July 11, 1937 of Greek parents.    Soula lived there with her parents and her older brother for three years.  With the change in the political climate her family then immigrated to Thessaloniki, Greece where she lived until the age of 26.  Soula then decided to go live with her brother and sister in law in the United States in search of a better life.  She worked in New York City at the Spindle Top Hotel as a receptionist.  While working there she met her late husband, Theodosios, also known as “Teddy.”  They married in New York City and moved to Glastonbury, Connecticut in 1968 to raise a family and had resided there ever since.  Both Soula and her husband worked at the Hotel Sonesta which was located in downtown Hartford until its closing.  Then she worked at the Mohegan Sun Casino at Pompeii Caesars until 2006.   Her husband, Teddy, passed away suddenly in 2001.    Soula was a dedicated employee and family member.  She was courageous, graceful, loving, and a lady until the end.    She leaves behind her daughter Deanna Hatzikostantis, her son-in-law Michael Hatzikostantis, their two children Konstandina and Theodosios Hatzikostantis of Manchester, CT.  She also leaves behind her son Peter Bitsounis of Glastonbury, CT as well as a brother and sister-in-law in Greece. Calling Hours are on Saturday 10:00-11:00am at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 433 Fairfield Ave, Hartford, CT with the funeral immediately following at 11:00am. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Connecticut Parkinson’s Chapter at the following website:  http://ctapda.org/site30/donationList.php

Dear Deanna, Peter and Family,
We are so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was a lovely lady, and as was stated a graceful person. I have fond memories of speaking with her and your father; both sweet and loving people.
