Evelyn R. Barker
SPRINGFIELD - Evelyn R. Barker, 93, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her home.
She was born August 15, 1918 the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Selinger) Jacobs. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. She married Frank E. Barker in Springfield, March 13, 1937 and he preceded her in death November 24, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers.
Evelyn was a homemaker. She was a member of Westside Christian Church. She was also a member of the U N I Sunday School Class and Charlie's Angels there at the church. She and her husband volunteer at the Lake Springfield Christian Camp for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (husband Michael) Kane of Rochester, IL and Nancy (husband Paul) Klockenga of Daytona Beach, FL. There are 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 11 am until time of funeral services there at 12 noon. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

John and I are so sorry to hear about your loss. I found out about your mother's passing too late to attend the services or we would have been there. Sorry! I remember your mom as being so sweet and welcoming to me. She was a very lovely person to many it seems. I'm sure your family has many wonderful memories and that she will be missed immensely. If memory serves me right, I attended Glenwood High School with Nancy. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am honored that she chose to donate to the Shriners Chrildren Hospital. It is a very worthwhile cause. I lost my mother in March 2000, so I can guess what emotions you are experiencing.
