Evelyn Anna Marie Borders, 94, of Pinsonfork, KY, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born December 1, 1930, in Pinsonfork, KY, the daughter of the late Frank DePoole and Julia Angelina Coppola DePoole Ficano. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Borders; her loving daughter, Susan Gayle Bevins and three brothers, Frank DePoole, Nick DePoole and Richard DePoole.
Evelyn was a retired Pike County Board of Education school teacher having taught many years at Runyon Elementary School. She was a member of the Belfry Senior Citizens and enjoyed going when her health permitted, and a longtime member of the Belfry Methodist Church.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Harold Irvin (Debbie) Borders of Berea, KY; brother, Joseph DePoole of Brooksville, FL; her loving grandchildren, Derrick Harold (Rachel) Bevins of Crab Orchard, WV, Anna Marie (Ben) Davis of Catlettsburg, KY, April (Mike) Sowers of Lexington, KY, Mark Borders of Los Angeles, CA, Rocky Borders of Indianapolis, IN, and Denise Borders (Andrew Kleinschmidt) of Sherman Oaks, CA; her loving great grandchildren, Michaela, Logan, Christian, Sophia Gayle, Hendrick, Henlee, Bella, and Oliver; her son-in-law, Joe Bevins of Pinsonfork, KY; her special caregivers, Heather Curry, and Lena Cantrell. Evelyn also leaves behind a host of loving family and friends.
Evelyn's funeral will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, beginning at 12 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Stanley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, KY, with Mike Sowers, Joe Bevins, Derrick Bevins, Logan Blackburn, Christian Blackburn, Ryan Chapman, Jonathan Blackburn, Ben Davis, Mark Borders, and Rocky Borders serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 6 - 9 PM in the funeral home chapel with a special service at 7 PM. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY, is serving the Borders family. My dear dear friend and coworker. I am so sorry to hear of Evelyns passing. We worked together at Runyon School for many years and were the closest of friends. I was her grandchild Anna Maria's first grade teacher. I loved Evelyn and she has a wonderful family. A prayer for comfort.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. To all the family of Evelyn I am so sorry for your loss! We will be praying for all of you! She will be greatly missed! When God Almighty called her He called an angel caused that was what she was! When you seen her she always had a smile on her face and always reaching out to help anyone that needed it!
