Evelyn "Dee" O’Connor Morin, 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 27th, 2024. Dee was born on January 31st, 1934 in Easton, Missouri, and grew up on the farm. She was the third of five daughters of Pearl Ann Sayles O’Connor and Dennis O’Connor. She attended school in Easton and Hemple, then graduated from Gower High School in 1952. Dee enjoyed being a cheerleader and prom queen while at Gower. An independent spirit, she drove herself to St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School to fulfill her dream of becoming a registered nurse. Dee worked for Dr. William Redmond as an office nurse until she stayed home to care for her children. She happily returned to her nursing career and worked 30 years for the Community Blood Center in St. Joseph and Kansas City retiring at age 70.
Dee had many talents, gardening, sewing, tole painting, decorating, and corralling her family. Beloved by her children, “Dee Dee” was the heart and soul of her family, her children and grandchildren were very important to her. She loved spending time with her growing family at the Ozarks lake home. Dee enjoyed traveling and visited many sites in the USA as well as Ireland. She was a caring and devoted friend and loved playing bridge with several groups, bowling, and the St. Joseph Garden Club. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she served the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, and preparing food for funeral luncheons.
Dee is survived by her husband of 66 years, Eugene Clark Morin, her children Patty Averell, Jenifer Consunji (Rey), Dennis Morin (Jan), Sally Sanders (David), Marci Baldwin (Chip), thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Hello Morin family. I have always considered myself family since I’ve only known you all for over 4 decades. One of my favorite things about your mom is that she smiled with her eyes. She was always welcoming and I always felt her genuine kindness. I know she is proud of all her children, grandchildren and greats! If friendship could heal sorrow, I’m sending it. Thinking of you all and praying for comfort and peace to you all. ❤

Dee was such an inspirational woman! She always had a beautiful smile and was the best hostess ever! I will also remember her kind spirit. She cooked amazing Thanksgiving dinners and yet was so very humble about her cooking skills - oh, it's nothing really she would say when I complimented her on her magazine-cover looking, perfectly browned turkey! I recall talking to her in more recent years when I was commuting to KC and she told me she always said the rosary when she commuted there. ...

My Father "Neal" and Dee's Dad "Dea" were brothers. Dea and Pearl were my Godparents. Every occasion that I would see Evelyn Dee (few too many times in recent years) I'd always say: "there's my good looking cousin"... and
I ALWAYS got a beautiful smile out of her and kind words. I will forever remember her as a gentle, kind, spirited, engaging woman blessed with a competitive and compassionate Irish heart. Privileged to call her cousin and know Heaven now has another Angel. Prayers for...
