Not sure what to say?

A trip to the post office was s special part of the day for my three boys when they were little. Ev and Russ always greeted them and treated them like they were their most important customers. We should all remember that in God's time we will see our kind and gracious Evelyn again in just a few minutes!

Remembering with love...how pleasant and efficient Eve was in the Post Office. She always acknowledged the small children with a smile and conversation. We often said that the Lemont Post office had no customers--just friends who came to receive and send mail. Eve nurtured that friendship.

When Evelyn was at the front desk at the post office, she treated everyone as a friend, rather than a customer. One Christmas time, my five year old son wanted to send a card to Baby Jesus. He selected a card from our supply at home and signed his name as best his five year old hand could and brought it to the front desk. He explained to Evelyn that this card was for Baby Jesus, and Evelyn carefully took it from his hand and placed it with the outgoing mail. (Later to be retrieved and...

Charlie & David - Sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful lady! And, of course, I remember your dad and what a wonderful man he was. We all grew up together in Lemont and I cherish those memories. Prior to your dad's passing, your parents and I would send Christmas cards to each other with lots of writing about our past in Lemont. I miss that. I returned to State College about 12 years ago and occasionally, I drive through Lemont to reminisce. You all take care.

Dear Dave and Charles--You probably met us when you lived in Lemont, but we want you to know that we were greatly saddened to learn of your dear mother's passing, as well as the passing of your dad which we were unaware of. You should know that both your parents were beloved, and I do mean beloved members of our community. They WERE the Lemont post office. I can honestly say that they were my little children's first grown up friends; they were always greeted with smiles when we came to the...

Hi Charles and David,

David, you may not remember me but you, Charles, probably do. I saw your mom's obituary in the newspaper today and was sad to hear of her passing and didn't know that your dad left us two years ago. Just recently, at Grange Fair, I asked Bev Johnson McMurtrie if she'd heard any news from Russ and Ev (she hadn't). I will pass this news on to her in case she didn't see it in the paper.

So sorry to hear of it. My mom, Martha Miller, passed away five years...

Charlie and family,
I was so sorry to read of your mother's passing. We had shared so many memories of growing up together in Lemont at the reunion. My deepest sympathy to all of the family.
Love and prayers,
Judy Wilson Kauffman

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I loved visiting them as a little girl with my parents. You are somehow my distant cousins as my grandparents are Joe and Sara Yakich. I always took pride in the fact that I shared a birthday with Russ. I also remember a day when Rus and Evelyn made an unexpected visit to us at our house one time and it was so fun to see them. I have missed them after they moved away.

I am sorry for loss I related to Russ I will miss them both. We always had family get gathers I was happy to them every year next year we will have a memory of them both. Just like we had for my grandmother was Jean Eminhizer and my Great Aunt Kate.
