Evelyn Leavens was a mentor, friend and inspiration as I was growing up as an artist. I will always remember the fond memories of Evelyn when I use to come to her home for art lessons every Friday after school. Evelyn was a very special person in my life as my first and only private art teacher beginning at age 7 and lasting up until I left for art school at age 18. Words can't explain how important she was to me. I know many others felt the same.

Ms. Leavens was an amazing woman. She was my art teacher for years. I learned a lot under her skilled hand. She was a talented artist with a wicked sense of humor. I'll always remember the way she threw herself into Halloween and her spooky laugh she loved to use during October. She was a great person to know and she really helped me grow in my own style.

She was my art teacher when I was very young. A great inspiration for a young kid who learned if you made a big painting...you could just cut a hole in the cieling to get it out...made me believe anything was possible.
