Evelyn-Meagher-Obituary

Evelyn Pond Meagher

Obituary

MEAGHER, Evelyn Pond (1920-2009), a native of Richmond, died Saturday, February 28, at her childhood home. She was 88 years old. She is survived by her son, James L. "Jimmy" Warner of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Aleta Steiner and John Warner of Boston, Mass. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the Smithdale-Massey Business College, Mrs. Meagher provided administrative support to the family business, Traveler's Aid Society, and to the office of the Dean of Virginia Commonwealth University's Evening College. Her hobbies included gardening, photography and making photo albums of family and friends, as well as her compelling and striking skyscapes. In her final days, Mrs. Meagher wished to convey to her friends, neighbors, fellow graduates and colleagues what a beautiful life she had because of them, and how they inspired her to make the best of every day. There will be a private ceremony in Richmond. In lieu of flowers or donations, the deceased asked that you instead remember her in a skyward glance, and in that areal fantasy that you find the child inside you, still growing, searching for a color-filled scene you will never quite forget.
