Not sure what to say?

Evelyn played a big part in my becoming a deaconess. She "gathered me in" her own way, and made me feel a part of the Community right from the start. I miss her. I thank our God for bringing her into my life.

It has been years since i attended any Deaconess function, and quite some time since i have been to church. But i don't think a day goes by that i don't recall my days at Valpo or the time i spent at Deaconess hall. In those memories are moments with Evelyn. Always the gentle spirit advocating for others. Rest in the loving arms of Jesus

Evelyn Middelstadt was the first Lutheran deaconess I met when I traveled to Valparaiso for my initial interview before entering the deaconess formation process in 1994. It was immediately apparent that Evelyn was a person of great integrity, compassion, and kindness, all tempered with practicality. Her death diminishes our deaconess community and the world. We will miss her greatly.

I did not know her, however have read up on how Great she was for the people in the community. I send my Deepest Sympathy, Prayers, and hopes of eased pain. She seemed very kind, and should be looked up to. I Hope that more people follow in her Loving footsteps, and "pay it forward" if I may say. God Bless.

I met Evelyn while working at Larson & Company many years back and felt honored to have known her. What a beautiful and kind woman who offerd love and kindness to everyone. My prayers are with Evelyn's family and many friends.

I was a roommate of Evelyn at Valpo in 1949. She was a dear friend. My deep sympathies to her Mom and family.

I will miss you Evelyn! Haven't talked to or seen you in a long time. I haven't been to any Middelstadt family reunions or have seen many of you since my mom Dorothy died. Ron you and the rest of your family are in our prayers. I am also sorry to her friends that knew her well for their loss. Love Devonne (Wippich)Darling and family

Evelyn & I have been friends 25 years; we've lived together the last 10 years. Servanthood was her calling. She was truly a servant of God, and thus, of all who called on her. I am blessed to have known her so well. I know Evelyn as both "gentle as a spring breeze and as rough as rawhide," as someone expressed it.

Thank you Evelyn for all of the hard work and effort you put in to making a difference in the world. You have obviously touched many lives and will be deeply missed. My prayers are with your family and friends as they mourn.
