PENNINGTON, EVELYN GAY- Of Burton, age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, peacefully at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 12pm Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Friday, February 6, 2026, and 11am Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Evelyn was born in Pettry West Virginia on November 2, 1936, she was the youngest of her seven siblings. She moved to Michigan at nineteen to start her family. She not only raised her children but was also a huge part in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and would proudly talk about them every chance she had. She enjoyed sports and loved to watch her great grandchildren play various sports.
She loved God and was a member of Great Lakes Baptist Temple for sixty plus years. She spent much of that time serving in the nursery, playing on the church softball team and bringing her great grandchildren to church.
Surviving are her children; Allen (Teresa)Pennington, Teresa Gifford, and Traian (Debbie) Lupu; grandchildren; Trisha (James) Miner, T.J. Lupu, Teesha (Frank)Linseman, Miranda Flang and Jonah Flang; great grandchildren; Camron, Laila, Kaprice, Jayla, Aiden, Lacey, Arya and Elliot.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Bessie Caperton, all her siblings; her husband James Pennington and her daughter Deborah Lupu.
