Not sure what to say?

Evelyn Spearman's son, Walter Gordon Berry, Jr. (Waddy)
(6/21/50-5/31/19),
was my high school friend when my name was Sandra Mark's.

Waddy was a Vietnam War Era
Veteran.

I want to be informed where he is buried so I can hopefully have a flag on his grave Memorial and
Veterans' Days.

Thank you very much.

I grew up in Huntsville and was a member of the Church of Nativity until I moved to New York after college. Big E was such an influence on me that I named my daughter Evelyn, and we call her Evie. My Evie was able to meet Big E up at Sewanee one July 4th, along with another friend who had named her daughter Evie (again, an homage to Big E), and when I asked her what she thought of all the Evies, she looked around and said, "Well, I'm just happy to see that all the Evie's are so good lookin!"...

What a character Big E was. She will be greatly missed but most certainly not forgotten.

I always loved being your sister-in-law! And so loved being part of your family. I also loved the way that you never lost interest in people and ideas and maintained your lust for life. I'm sure God told St Peter to swing those gates wide open because Big E was on her way.

So sorry to hear of Evie's passing! I enjoyed knowing her when we served together on the Mental Health Association Board of Directors back in the 90s. She will be greatly missed. Prayers for the family at this very sad time.

Big E will always be a wonderful part of my childhood memories. She had a Peace about her that could be felt in her presence and it was magnified with conversation. She engaged you, made you feel wanted and at home. I can honestly say that she and Alan always made me happy to be around them. They were simply a bunch of fun! We will miss you, Big E!

Beautiful obituary! She was a most delightful mother-in-law that welcomed me into the family as she handed me a glass of Chardonnay!
She taught me so much. There was nothing better than spending an evening talking to Alan & Big E! They complimented each other beautifully.
She certainly left quite a legacy. RIP Big E

I was so fortunate to have been in A-Z Book club with Evie. Evie possessed an incredible mind which included a very deep knowledge of both the Bible and Shakespeare. She was sassy and unapologetically opionated. When I read a book, I always try to identity "the spirit person" as Evie always urged our members to do. Evie was deeply loved by her friends, and I feel so lucky to be among those.

She was a special lady. I always loved to see her smiling face and listen to her talk about books at Nativity. She will be greatly missed.
