Travers, Evelyn Elizabeth Queen (Age 74)
Evelyn E. Travers of Indian Head, Maryland quietly departed this life, on Tuesday,
September 19, 2006 at her home. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Evelyn remained brave as she battled a long time illness with congestive heart failure resulting in complications.
Evelyn leaves to mourn her death, but cherish her memory, two children; Tessa Kelton and Morris Travers, six grandchildren; Latecea Baker, Zackary Baker, Jr., Deante’ Travers, Eboni Travers, Larteshaye Kelton and Ashley Roberson, nine great-grandchildren; Tyzhae’, Nizhaea, TaeQuan, Zakara, Zhataea, Azhiya, Zion and Tero’jhe Baker and Deante’ Travers, Jr., son-in-law; Larry Kelton, daughter-in-law; Sheila Travers, sisters and brothers; Gladys Simmons and her husband, Francis, Ruth Butler, Eartha Taylor and her husband, Reginald S., Theodore Queen, Francis Queen and his wife, Judy and Cecil Michael Queen, a beautiful and loving, sister-in-law; Juanita Queen,
two godchildren; Deborah Butler and Tawanda Forbes.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends, including James “Jimmy” Rosier, Barrett Hart and Cynthia Rosier whom she referred to as her children.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Louis Travers, parents, Mary Barnes and James H. Queen, brother, Morris E. Queen, Sr., sister, Azell Gutrick, aunt Lucille Chase, a very “special cousin,” Roger “Proc” Chase, referring to one another as brother and sister and stepson, Charles Stevie Patterson.
The Viewing will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2006, 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road (State Route #227) Pomonkey, Maryland. Prayers 7:00 pm. Officiated by her nephew, Pastor Morris E. Queen, Jr., originally from Los Angles, California.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 25, 2006, 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, Maryland.
Immediately following the Mass the Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland (near Indian Head).
