Everitt was not only a great person but also an outstanding athlete at Montclair High . He and Thelma were a great pair and will both be long remembered . I spoke to Everitt last Spring about visiting the One Love tennis program for kids in Wilmington, NC founded by Lenny Simpson, a former American Association tennis star who also eventually played on the regular tennis tour. Christmas Family: Everett was six years older than me, so he was one of my Montclair High School sports heroes. As an All-State football center, he was a leader on an MHS state championship team. He also was a guard on a very good MHS basketball team. As an adult, I got to play football against him in the Essex County Touch Football League and against him in YMCA basketball tournaments.
