Everett Jay Schmidt, age 51, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at his home in Sheldon. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at Parkview Assembly Church in Sheldon. Rev. Ken Snyder officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock. Visitation will be Monday, May 17, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Everett Jay Schmidt was born on July 14, 1958, in Sheldon, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Joyce (Dykstra) Schmidt. He lived his youth in Sheldon, where he attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Candy Porter of Newport, Oregon, on September 7, 1979, in Kelso, Washington. They lived in Sheldon, where Everett farmed, and in 2005, he was employed with Ag Partners. Everett enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his family. He enjoyed playing pool and was on many leagues. He also enjoyed working, farming, and especially spending time with his family. He attended Parkview Assembly Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Everett passed away at his home in rural Sheldon on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Candy Schmidt of Sheldon, IA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Crystal and Brian Williams of Omaha, NE, Bliss and Josh Kruse of George, IA; three grandchildren: Aiden May Williams, Taylor Rose Williams, Colton Jay Kruse; his parents: Henry and Joyce Schmidt of Sheldon, IA; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Patricia and Doug Meester of Sheldon, IA, Carol and Kevin Kisling of Ames, IA; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Edgar and Grace Schmidt and Ralph and Tilly Dykstra.
