Not sure what to say?

Ev and Elaine and I were colleagues and friends for many years. He gave us a dog, Maggie, a terrier poodle schnauzer. We mourn his passing and will hold many fond memories of times spent in public service and get togethers over the years. Our prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

Ev Vermeer was the Director, in Calhoun Co., when I began my career as a Social Worker. Ev encouraged his staff to propose ideas that would help our clients. He listened to staff and was indeed a cheerleader for his staff. Calhoun Co. had the first Foster Parent Recognition Dinner and staff worked to provide the evidence that convinced the legislature to increase the rates that foster parents received for buying clothing for their foster children. When he left to become the Director in...

I have only great memories of Evert especially of our time together with him, Mary and daughters in Albania. He truly was a remarkable public servant and worthy of honor, in addition to a keen sense of humor. Allan TenEyck

Ev was a man of integrity and wisdom who graciously shared his time and talents. I will always appreciate the mentoring he provided. My sympathy for your family´s loss. Ev touched countless lives with his humanity - many who may never even realize their lives were made better because of the work he did. Ev cared for people and turned that caring into action and that action into impact. He is missed by those who had the wonderful opportunity to know him.

It was a pleasure to know and chat with Ev at Calvin Church. As I recall Ev signed one of my early ambulance licenses for Kent County. He will be remembered for his various services through the years.

Dear Vermeer family, I always loved your family. Your parents were dear to everyone in the Battle Creek CRC. I have lots of good memories of events at your house, violin lessons at our house, and later re-connecting at Calvin CRC when we all landed in Grand Rapids. Blessings and peace to you all as you remember and celebrate your Dad's good life! Love too you all, Jan

Although I have only known Evert for a few years, I found him to be a intelligent and kind man. A good good man. RIP

I worked at Kent County when Ev was Director of the County´s Human Services Department. He was such a kind and thoughtful man and did a fantastic job as director.

Condolences to you all and Todd, we miss you!
