I knew Don well in London in the late 1960s and 70s. I recall many happy times with him and Dr Suzanne Buckley, including a trip to Hadrian´s wall. He was a great friend, a wonderful host and an inspiring historian. I only just heard of his death. Rosemary O´Day, Prof Emeritus of History, The Open University

Don Logan was an outstanding professor who taught us to love medieval history which came to life in his inimitable lectures. We learned to love the Vikings almost as much as he did. I was privileged to know him as a friend. I miss his happy spirit.

I just learned of Donald´s death today. I was saddened that I didn´t know at the time of his passing. With many fond memories of my student days at Emmanuel as well as my teaching there many years later. In prayerful sympathy to his family.

Donald Logan was a true gentleman and a loyal friend gifted with the greatest intelligence matched with sparkling good humour. His thoughtful cards and handwritten letters were always a joy to receive. Logan, you will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear our old friend Donald has left us all. I and my family enjoyed more than 40 years of kindness and friendship, exploring ruined old abbeys in England, and Boston arts and local history in the USA. We will all miss him. And heck, I'd love to hear what he has to say up there.

Donald will be so greatly missed, especially in Bloomsbury, London, between June and August of almost every year since 1962. He was such a good friend and wonderful host, a distinguished scholar of Canon Law who made History accessible and exciting on both sides of the Atlantic from the Vikings to Archbishop Simon Sudbury.

My condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Donald. We were colleagues at Emmanuel College for some 25 years. Donald loved his students and colleagues. That is how I will remember him. Rest in peace, Donald. Richard

Donald was an inspiring and challenging teacher who will be missed - but never forgotten - by generations of Emmanuel history majors and alumnae, like me. Our intermittent lunches over the years were always long and full of laughter; I am honored to have been his friend.
