Not sure what to say?

Praying for the family. I worked with Scutch in Alabama and was glad to reconnect with him in recent years. He was a character and I enjoyed working with him. Blessings, Lindsey

Memories of Scutch's early days at SDSU. After a few years on the faculty of a Midwestern medical school, I was keen to return to academic public health. The opportunity to come to SDSU in 1981 and work with an enthusiastic young director to create a school from scratch was irresistible. As I found after arriving, beyond the basic faculty positions, there were extremely limited resources available to start the GSPH. So many losses in these recent years, but this was a huge, stunning blow. My deepest condolences to dear Miss Phyllis and to Alex and Scott and their families, and to all his colleagues and friends. I truly loved Scutch and count myself fortunate to have been a solid friend and continuing correspondent from our time shared at SDSU and for the many years since he and Phyllis returned "home" to Kentucky. Since then, how lucky to have seen Scutch again: once here for dinner in San Diego,...

Dear Phyllis and family, I am so sorry to hear of Doug´s passing. He was a one of a kind great guy. You and he figured so strongly in my early real estate career. ` We now live in Tennessee; perhaps our paths will cross again. Warmest regards, Jack Foress

My sincere condolences for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts.

I first moved to San Diego in 1988, a young physician with MD from University of Kentucky and MPH from University of Michigan. I received a phone call one day from Dr. Schutchfield welcoming me to San Diego, and had a nice chat about his vision and efforts with SDSU´s School of Public Health. I always appreciated his warm welcome and encouragement. He is well remembered and will be missed.
