My parents met Kins many years ago when they were members of the Crystal Lake Water Ski Club. My fondest childhood memories of Kins were taking rides in his beautiful blue boat at the lake, picking peaches at his home in Ellington, and hearing his colorful stories of growing up in the "castle" and of his family and friends. When my brother and I grew up on 23 Kibbe Rd, we saw him all the time. He came over and visited us many times. I remember I liked his older model Ford Bronco that he used to plow our driveway in the winter. He always had a serious look about him, but was always happy to help. I can't remember a time that he ever asked for anything in return for his help. When the power on the whole street was out because of an ice storm, Kins drove around to many of the neighbors to hook-up his gas generator...

Kins was our neighbor for over 27 years. The first day we moved in on Kibbe Road, he came to our house and volunteered to help with anything that we needed. In the dead of winter, when our heating pipes burst from the cold, he was there to help. When the snow was too deep to shovel or plow ourselves, he was there.
