Not sure what to say?

Fannie Johnson-Baxter was a wonderful person. I knew her as a fellow faculty member at Cleveland State University for many years. Fannie always had a great smile and took time to engage with everyone she met. She was a consummate professional social worker and her fellow colleagues and students at the University loved her kind manner, her high level of motivation, and her great wisdom. Fannie never met a stranger and was known for her kindness and her great sense of humor. I miss her but...

Fannie was one of my mentors at Applewood Centers and CSU. She always laughed at my jokes (which anyone will tell you is generous), and gave me the best advice. She was an incredible woman and a true inspiration to me. I can say without reservation, the world is better for her having been here.

When I think of the five most influential black women in my life, Fannie is definitely among those women. Fannie helped me grow both professionally and personally. Fannie use to call me "Akee". I would ask why and she said "I call all my April's Akee" in her soft sweet voice. My sympathy goes out to Lacey, Joey and the rest of the family. She has and will forever be missed.

Lacey, our hearts are with you. hugs from us all

Professor Baxter shaped many professional social workers through her kindness, brilliance, patience, sense of humor, perseverance and compassion! I know this because I am fortunate enough to have been one of her graduate students and I remain forever grateful to her.

Fannie Baxter, thank you for your years of dedication to the betterment of children and families throughout Northeast and all of Ohio .

Fannie was such a sweet lady. I am honored that I had the opportunity to meet her. Prayers and condolences to her family and close friends.

May the loving God of all comfort and a promised hope, be with the family at this very sad and difficult time.

Professor Baxter was an inspiration to many. She was definitely one of my favorite instructors. I loved her honesty and appreciated how she encouraged me to follow my dreams. I miss her already.
