Faye Joann Hurst, age 69, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 in her home surrounded by the love and care of her children. She was born in Moose Lake, MN on September 7th, 1952 to Arthur and Hetty (Aho) Korpela.

Faye grew up in Cromwell and settled down to raise a family in Barnum after she married her true love, Dennis Hurst. Dennis and Faye enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing as well as fixing and remodeling homes for their family. She worked for many years as the Business Manager for Barnum School District. She loved the U of M Gophers, especially basketball, but her real favorite team was any team her grandchildren were on. Faye enjoyed numerous cruises and vacations with her friends throughout the years. She was an excellent baker, enjoyed crocheting, and was notorious for keeping a clean home. Above all else, Faye cherished time spent with her grandkids and lived for moments with her family.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents, Arthur and Hetty; grandson, Daniel; and brother-in-law, David Hurst.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dawn Hurst-Valure, Corey (Roxanne) Hurst, David (Shanelle) Hurst, and Cassandra (Brian) Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlene, Carol, Jean, Diane, Linda, and Larry; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

A memorial visitation to honor Faye’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 26th, from 11:00 until the 1:00pm memorial service in Barnum Community Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in Barnum Riverside Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

Faye was my boss at the fairground and a neighbor in Barnum. She was always a pleasant, friendly, and helpful person to me. I'm sorry to hear about her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My deepest sympathy to all of the family.

Our condolences and sympathy to you all, as children or grandchildren of Faye. Saddened to have heard of her last days to have been filled with such pain. She brought smiles to so many. We had many wonderful childhood memories together. God's Peace. With love, Greg and Dee Koivisto (Lundin).

Faye was such a fun, witty person. She’s gone way too soon. I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her children and grandkids. I know they were her pride and joy.

Our family is saddened by the news of Faye passing so soon. Our community at Black Duck Lake will always hold a special place in our hearts for Faye. Blessing to her four children and her grandchildren. Love you all!

My heart is broken to hear of Faye’s passing. We shared our teen years together, laughing and loving our way through life at CHS. As blonde Finlanders, we even cut our hair alike...”twinning” before it was even called that! How I loved you, Faye! May our precious Heavenly Father comfort us all.
Special love and prayers to sisters and Larry, and Faye’s beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
