Faye Amity (Nichols) Snider, 78 died unexpectedly May 17, 2006 as a result of an automobile accident. She was the wife of the late Harold O. Snider.
She was born October 14, 1927 in Calais, the daughter of the late Bion C. and Helen (Leighton) Nichols.
She attended Harrington schools and moved to Portland during World War II and worked as a welder in a shipyard. Many years were spent working in shoe shops. Faye loved working seasonal jobs including the sardine factory, clam shops, blueberry raking and wreathing. The past five years she has been a volunteer driver for WHCA. She was a member of the Harrington Grange, American Legion and the Milbridge VFW.
She was a kind, giving, and gentle woman known to many as "Grammie Faye". IF she wasn't working or on the road, she could be found at a Beano Hall.
Faye is survived by seven children, Darrell Holbrook and his companion, Jen, Linda Davis and her husband, Phillip, Nancy Skeate and her husband, Sheldon, Pete Snider and Janie, Edward (Bozo) Snider, Mary Look and her husband, Binky, Nina Johnson and her husband, Cliff and a special nephew, Dana Black, 23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Fern Black and a brother, Foch Nichols.
A celebration of life will be celebrated at the Columbia Town Hall, Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Faye's name to the Beth C. I would like to thank everyone for all the wonderful messages. At this time I get great comfort in hearing all of the ways that this Grand Old Gal touched so many people's lives. Its been many years since I have seen Faye or all of you..with the exception of my wonderful friend Pete...It seems like yesterday when I was in Washington County visiting and meeting all of you..she will always be remembered as the sweetest woman who raised a wonderful family..she was a loving mom and wife..you have been blessed with this wonderful gift. She is smiling down with love and prayers for all of you..

Hey ya'll Faye was a wonderful kind lady, and yes she was definately grammie faye to alot of people myself and my daughter Jessyca she will be truly missed. I am so sorry to hear of Faye's passing. She wasn't a relative but our family always called her "aunt Faye". I remember spending alot of time with her and Uncle Harold, she was a good friend to my mom for many years! My prayers are with her family.
