Nov 27, 1937 – Sep 8, 2025 (Age 87)
Faye Douglas Welsh, 87, of Fox Hollow Assisted Care, Pinehurst, NC, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025.
Faye was born November 27, 1937 in Bruce, MS to the late Robert and Lena Douglas (Turner). She was a wonderful mother, homemaker (teacher), grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved to cook. She was known throughout for her fried chicken and country ham biscuits. However, her strawberry rhubarb, chocolate and coconut (millionaire) pies were delicious specialties at many family meals. Her generous soul touched many.
A true Christian, Faye treasured her faith and was devoted to reading the Bible from cover to cover with her friend, Betty Cambell. She set the example through prayer and her love for Christ and friends, especially, Alice Craig, who was like a sister to Faye. Traveling was Faye's hobby. Their RV logged many a mile from North Carolina to Nova Scotia to Alaska and back to North Carolina visiting friends and family. She saw all of this beautiful country and was a proud Republican.
She is survived by three children, James D. Bradford (Adele) of Whispering Pines, NC, Dr. Cheryl A. Billingsley, DDS (John) of Richmond, VA, and Sandra L. Hammac of Whispering Pines, NC; four stepchildren, Sharon L. Welsh of Wilmington, NC, Olin H. (Rusty) Welsh, Jr. (Mary) of Raleigh, NC, Amy W. Edelberg (Ralph) of Raleigh, NC, and Mark A. Welsh of Raleigh, NC; son-in-law, John Garst of Covington, GA; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dr. Bobby Douglas of Bruce, MS and Sherman Douglas (Carolyn) of Mobile, AL.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Garrett Bradford, and her second, Olin H. Welsh; and her daughter, Patricia B. Garst of Covington, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chestnut Street Methodist Church, PO Box 1464, Lumberton, NC 28359, or Chalybeate Baptist Church (Cemetery Fund), 2430 Hwy 354, Walnut, MS 38683.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

My Mom, Faye Douglas Bradford Welsh, was a loving, devoted, and humble woman. She was a true Southern lady. Less than two weeks before she passed, I trimmed, washed, styled her hair, and gave her a pedicure. She even asked what cream I used on my face. Mom would never go anywhere without beautifying herself; she was beautiful inside and out.
The week before she passed, she looked at me with a huge smile and said, "I'm going to see Jesus!" I know she is in heaven and experiencing an...

Faye was a joy to be around with her great smile and making making you feel at home. She loved cooking and having extended family meals, with fried chicken and yeast rolls being always in demand. She is really missed by her nieces and nephews. Barbara, Bud,Bethany and Jim.
