My father first met then-Capt. Sparks at "The Caves" at Anzio. My father's artillery unit supported the 45th Division through most of WW2. My father met Gen. Sparks several times - "A 1st Class man!"

Thank you for your service to The United States and to our State of Colorado. Also a deep thank-you for your presence in the witnessing and liberation in WWII of Dachau concentration camp. Thank you for continuing to speak out when others denied the Holocaust. May you rest in peace.

My Division fought alongside the 45th Division from December 1 through June 1.1945 and co- liberated the Dachau Concentration Camp and other campaigns.. Colonel Felix Sparks as we knew of him was indeed a Born Leader from much prior military actions. His leadership at a young age was as memorable as his rise in ranks and commands in several notable campaigns.
His post war leadership and campaigns are amazing and he certainly is both a Colorado and a National hero and leader.. Donald Segel 42nd Rainbow Division Veteran

I had the Honor of meeting with and discussing with General Sparks his WW2 experiences on 3 seperate occaions during my nearly 22 years of service in the Colorado Army National Guard. Primarily while I was with the 157th Regiment. He was a truly Great American and a fine example of what a Soldier should be. We lost a large important piece of living American History and an icon today.

"Larry" and dear Mary are very special friends. It was an honor for Rex to serve in WWII with Larry.
Mother, Grace, respected Larry so much when she was his secretary in Delta. Many good memories at the 157th reunions. Our love to Mary and the family.

You will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Dad was with you in WWII, and my grandmother was your secretary in Delta. I have a special photo that I am very proud of, it is of you and me and was taken at the Reunion in Houston Texas.
May you rest in eternal peace. God Bless Mary and the family.

General/Justice Sparks was an inspiration to all of us who served under him in the Colorado Army National Guard. We were honored to stand in the same ranks as such a Citizen Soldier.

Upon returning from Active Duty in Viet Nam I joined the Colorado Army National Guard in 1972 and General Sparks was my Commanding General. I was very proud when he presented me my diploma from the NCO Academy in 1976. He is and will remain an inspiration to me always. JAMES YOUNGQUIST CW5 (Ret)
