On April 5, 1945, VeEster and Felton Fontenot, Sr. were blessed with a baby boy they named Felton Fontenot, Jr. He was born in Beaumont, Texas, and raised with love, faith, and strength. Felton attended and graduated from Hebert High School, Class of 1963. He has been a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church from birth and was baptized by the founding pastor Rev. C.E Davis. Felton’s daily actions were Godly as they were guided by his belief in the word of God. He secretly financially supported so many people when the needs were honest and Godly. His presence preceded his commitment to ensure his heart for sharing the favor and blessings he received from God.
Felton attended Lamar University for three years and was recruited by Chicago Bridge and Iron (CBI), where he retired after thirty-three years of service as an Industrial Radiographer. He mastered the skills of taking X-ray images of structures for analysis, examination, and processing, as noted by his co-workers. Felton’s retirement was prompted by his commitment to care and support for his mother during her illness.
Felton traveled the east coast and the Caribbean Islands during his tenure at CBI. He shared his experiences with family and friends, which inspired our family to travel and experience the cultures of others beyond Texas and Louisiana. Because of Felton, we have experienced the value of travel. An amazing education!
Felton loved shooting pool; he was a member of the American Poolplayers Association. He was recognized for 1000 matches played, APA Good Sportsmanship, and APA Most Valuable Player. Felton was more than a pool player, he used his love for helping others to mentor the charter of his associates; Qualen Noel is his biggest fan. Felton gave him the name “Que”, and he helped to nurture Qualen's love for pool and how to represent himself as a respectable man.
However, Felton was most noted for his interest, knowledge, wisdom, and experience of the stock market. He taught all of us the value of investing and how to spend, save, and invest money wisely. Felton purchased newspapers daily to ensure his knowledge of the information needed to practice discernment to share with others.
Felton was a master storyteller. Every event or circumstance was translated into a story filled with literature, poetry, and lyrics that brought laughter, joy, and humor to the gathering. He also used this talent to write a song dedicated to our mother and the love for his Waverly Street Family, “Beaumont City Blues.” Felton loved his family and friends, and we all loved him back. All of his relationships with family and friends were authentic.
Felton was truly “The Wind Beneath Our Wings.”
Felton was preceded in death by his father, Felton Fontenot, Sr., mother, VeEster Joubert Fontenot, brother, Carroll James Joubert, Sr., sister, Felma Ruth Fontenot Leblanc.
Cherishing the life and memory of Felton Fontenot, Jr. are his devoted sisters, Dr. Patricia Fontenot Williams (Jerry, Jr.) and Adeline Marie Bogan. He is truly loved by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church members, classmates, neighbors, CBI Co-workers, APA associates, and many strangers that he encountered.

I thank the Lord Jesus for my handsome cousin Felton, Jr. I can still remember my grandmother Essie Ruth’s face lighting up whenever she saw her beloved nephew whom I remember she called Junior. I thank God for the smile cousin Felton shared, the good company he was to be around, and the way he lived his life so selflessly for the glory of God.
I pray that the God of all comfort continues to bless and comfort his beautiful sisters, his nieces and nephews, all his family, church...
