Fern Mae Root

Kathie, when I think about your mom, it's the almost sly smile and sparkle in eyes that first comes into my mind. You have to realize that Fern as with most moms ( of young ladies) back then, looked at me with a certain forboding, not that is was unwarranted, but she was never anything but good to me. Let's just say she could see the good in anybody, and that I'll never forget. Vios con Dios.

I am so sorry about the passing of Fern. She was such a lovely and friendly person, and like others, I loved her flowers in Marysville. Fern and my mother, Stella Clayton Ashe, were first cousins, and my grandfather, Bill Clayton, was her father's brother. I saw she and Florence at many events in my life. June Ashe Peterson

I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She was a very very nice lady who you knew loved everybody and everything just from talking with her. Brings back the good days of going thru your driveway on State Street everyday dropping you off in front of your Mother's hair salon from Perpetual Help. What a beautiful and caring woman whom our grandsons called "Grannie Fern". I am so happy that she was such an important part of their young lives. Jonah and Elan knew how very much they were loved by her, she made sure of that. Such a gift for them!
Our family will miss her.

My Mom was the strongest, most generous woman I will ever meet... we talked on the phone a couple times a week about everything, and laugh, or she would tell me old stories of her life. I was so Blessed to have that...and I will miss her till the day I die.

I've had the privilege of knowing Fern for the past 11 years. She was a wonderful neighbor and a dear friend. I loved looking out of my kitchen window in the spring and summer and seeing all her beautiful flowers blooming!! She will be dearly missed by so many of us. My prayers go out to all her family and friends.

My grandma Gertrude Clapp enjoyed the friendship and handiwork of Mrs Root for many years as her hairdresser and friend. Grandman too loved gardening and would talk about how lovely Mrs. Root's flowers were and what a nice talk they had during their weekly visits.
