Read MoreAfter serving as a hospital corpsman in the US Navy, I met Dr Stevenson in 1973 and had the pleasure of working for her in Fairfax county Virginia assisting in the physical examinations of firefighters being screened into the firefighters Academy. She was an incredibly gracious individual, very knowledgeable as a practitioner and very willing to teach and to educate.

Fern was an excellent doctor and a good friend of mine for over 30 years. We shared a love of foreign travel and spent many hours talking about our trips and viewing places & photos online. She loved receiving the many postcards I sent over the years from exotic places. She also loved trying to recognize the flags of various countries, during international news, sports, and the Olympics. She will be greatly missed.
