SAN DIEGO - The day he left for Iraq, they took pictures - one after another of him in his fatigues, cap shading his eyes from the sunlight, with medic's insignia pinned to his collar. To the mother of Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Fernando Mendez-Aceves, the pictures capture the way things...

Fernando you are one of the best people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. You one of the few reasons that I survived my UNITAS tour and all my friends and family in Cincinnati still talk about you and my favorite line you used on all the women "you smell good" that's all you said and it worked every time. I'll never forget the day I found out you were gone I just wish I could have been there at your side to help you just like you helped me through every bad day. You will never be...

Family of Fernando, I met Fernando at Balboa, Hospital in 2003. He was a good guy and we spoke often. I wish I took advantage and spent more time with him working out and just hanging around San Diego. He was liked by all. I'm trying to get a hold of somebody from his immediate family. If anybody out there can help please email me at [email protected]
I was an HM3 stationed with him and I'd like to speak with a family member in regards to him.
