We were saddened to hear of Dr. Contino's death. We learned of it from a dear friend and student of Dr. Contino's from our Indiana University days. We saw her conduct many times,over 40 years ago and never forgot her. She was dynamic and exciting but precise. Everything she directed was perfect but also "fun" as her devoted student said. She launched many singers on their careers and introduced IU and also Peabody Conservatory to interesting and unusual repertoire. She will be missed...

What a joy it was to connect with my dearest teacher on her 89th birthday. We spent a lovely afternoon, and she autographed my copy of her recent biography.
