Flora Rina Truant, 88, of Chandler, Arizona passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Flora was born in San Martino, Italy to Amabile and Attilio Lenardon on October 8, 1924, the first girl in a family of six children. Flora came to America through Ellis Island in 1935 on the Italian Cruise Liner the Conte Grande. The Lenardon family settled in Dearborn, Michigan where Flora graduated from Fordson High School. She worked in payroll for Ford Motor Company before marrying the love of her life, Dr. Joseph Paul Truant in 1948. They shared forty happy years of marriage in the Detroit area. After Joe passed away, Flora moved to Arizona in 1990 and became very active in Holy Spirit parish. She was president of the senior group for almost ten years and enjoyed her many dear friendships. She loved her involvement with the prayer shawl and bereavement ministries. Flora always had a positive outlook on life and easily made friends wherever she went. She treated everyone like family and many called her Nona, not just her grandchildren. She loved to travel the world with her friends and family, with special pilgrimages to Fatima, Lourdes and Medjugorje. Flora had boundless energy and earned the nickname "the energizer bunny." She was a woman of deep faith and had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary and St. Anthony of Padua. She devoted her life to her children, grand-children and great grand-children. Flora is preceded in death by her husband, Joe. She is survived by her loving sister, Rita; her children, Linda Thompson (Charles), Allan Truant and Anita Ryan (Thomas); her grandchildren, Christine Bosler (John), Theresa Lindstrom (Ryan), Christopher Ryan, Patti Truant, Alisa Powell (Greg), Kathleen Truant, Michael Ryan, Sara Ryan, Steven Truant and Mark Ryan and her great-grandchildren, Trent Lindstrom, Eric Lindstrom and Quentin Powell. She also leaves behind her brother, Renato Lenardon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 15, 2013 with a Viewing and Rosary starting at 9:30 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E. Libra Dr. in Tempe. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org.
