McKneely Funeral Home - Amite Obituary

Florence Mariotti Beard, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away at her home in Amite, La. on July 15, 2025 at the age of 93.  A former resident of Baton Rouge, La. and longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church

Flo moved to Amite, La. to live with her son and quickly became a loving member of St Helena Catholic Church. She was a devout Marian and very dedicated to her faith. Flo lit up any room she entered.  She had that little twinkle in her eyes that went along with her fun loving spirit.  She had a flair for fashion.  Wherever you would see her you knew she would be dressed perfectly with everything matching from her earrings down to her shoes. Flo is survived by son, Gary Beard and his wife Diane; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Nathan, Nicholas, Jacob, and Jon; great grandchildren, Gabby and Ellie; her lifelong friend, Nita Vicari and all the Vicari family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Beard and her son, Father Mark Beard.

A special thank you goes out to her special caregivers and Modern Home Health and Hospice for loving our Flo Bird and taking such good care of her. Visitation will be held at St. Helena Church Hall on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Rosary in Hall at 9am presented by Catholic Daughters and Knights of Columbus, Amite.  Entombment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements. For an online guestbook, visit http://www.mckneelys.com.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you

So saddened to hear of "Miss" Flo's passing. I am sure a huge part of her died when Fr Mark passed on. My thoughts and prayers are with Gary and family. "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies"Proverbs 31:10. These words in Proverbs exemplify "Miss" Flo I think. After seeing Jesus and Our Blessed Mother Fr Mark and Mr Harold surely must have greeted her with arms wide open and that comforts me.
