Florence G. Luberda of East Chicago IN, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at home. Florence is survived by three children: Mary Ann (Chris) Nickoloff of Aurora, IL, Jack (Dianne) Luberda of Hinsdale, IL, and Judy (Mark) Emery of Boulder, CO; 4 grandchildren: Dr. Stacey (Dr. Kevin) Joyce, Christopher (Sarah) Nickoloff, Eric and Kelly Emery; 4 great-grandchildren: Kagan, Kassidy, Jackson and Ellie; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband: John in 1995; parents: George and Anna Sancya; brother: Lou Sancya; and sisters: Eleanore Reffkin and Mary Scott. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:30 am at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN, with Rev. Fr. Alin Dogaru, officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 am until the time of the services at 10:30 am. Florence was the former owner/operator of the Corner Deli in East Chicago; a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella; and a life-long parishioner of St. Nicholas Romanian Catholic Church in East Chicago where for many years she, along with the ladies of the parish, made noodles every week and was known as a "noodle lady." Florence was also an avid sports fan, especially East Chicago high school athletics. Florence was very devoted to her family and her presence will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Boys & Girls Club of East Chicago (Catherine House Chapter) or Hospice of the Calumet Area would be appreciated.
