Florence A. (Misiaszek) McIntyre

Florence (Misiaszek) McIntyre died peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA. She was 93.

Florence was the oldest daughter of Mary and Stanislaus Misiaszek. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond “Roman” (Misiaszek) Maysek, and her sister, Helen (Misiaszek) Gannon.  Her beloved husband, Charles (“Chic”) McIntyre passed in 2017.

She leaves behind her five nephews: Raymond Maysek of Allentown, PA, Paul Maysek of Manhattan, NY, Dr. David P. Gannon of Carver, MA, Brian M. Gannon of Fitchburg, MA, and Peter Maysek of Boxford, MA; three nieces; Mary K. “Matey” Gannon of Clinton, MA, Ann Maysek of Wellesley, MA, and Meghan G. Hankey of Boca Raton, FL, and their families. In addition, she also leaves her beloved and dear friends, Marcella Kratovil and Lee & David Braska and family, all of Feeding Hills, MA.

“Aunt Florence” was one of a kind, and lived life on her terms. She built a lifetime career at American Airlines. Upon graduating from Clinton High School in 1944, she worked as a ticket reservation agent in Worcester, and moved with the company to Hartford, CT. She eventually managed the reservation department for American Airlines at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT, where she met her husband, Chic. When she retired after 49 years of service, Bob Crandall, the former president and chairman of American Airlines, was in attendance at her retirement party. That kind of says it all.

A longtime resident of the Springfield/Feeding Hills area, Aunt Florence loved to travel, the extent of which was evidenced by the scores of dolls she bought from every place she visited, and all for her three nieces. She was an avid book reader, sometimes reading two books a day, and was a crossword puzzle guru.  Aunt Florence was a true animal lover, raising Lhasa Apsos and other dogs, and was never ever without a cat as well. There was never just one of anything in the house.  She also loved her baseball and basketball; the Red Sox and UConn Huskies…why should there be anyone else? Her faith was strong and her love of family was unparalleled.

Her family would like to sincerely express their thanks to her neighbors, Lee and David Braska and their children, Kellie, Lauren, Allison, Madison and Jacob, for their love and continued care of Aunt Florence.

In light of the pandemic, in-person services are private. There are no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MSPCA (Massachusetts Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or to the charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton.
