DAVENPORT-Florence M. Paarmann, 91, of Davenport, IA passed away on March 21, 2023 at Atrium Village in Hills, IA. A private funeral service in honor of Florence will be held at Weerts Funeral Home. Following the service, Florence will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the Friends of Davenport Library. Florence (Lamansky) Paarmann was born on September 30, 1931 in Fairfield, Iowa to Harry and Helen Lamansky. Florence and two of her sisters made up half the roster for their rural high school basketball team. Upon graduating high school, Florence attended the Iowa Teachers College where she received her certificate to teach. Florence taught elementary students for two years, but then got married and concentrated on raising her four children. It was on August 9, 1952 that Florence married her great love, Ralph Paarmann. Together, they had 61 years of marriage before Ralph passed in 2013.
In her spare time, Florence loved to read books and visit the Davenport Public Library. When she wasn't reading, she could often be found enjoying the food channel on TV or rooting for her favorite Chicago sports teams. Florence loved her family most of all, she cared deeply for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Laura Paarmann, Julie (John) Stolt, Douglas Paarmann, William (Ruth) Paarmann; grandchildren, Sarah, Matt, Jana, Adam, and four great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Paarmann; parents, Harry and Helen Lamansky, and siblings, Sister Josephus, Rosa Bissell, Martha Lundh, Roy Lamansky.
