Frye Funeral Home, Inc. Obituary

Florence H. Prentice, 83, of Monongahela (Forward Township) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2023. She passed onto her new life with her family at her side.

She was born on October 23, 1939 in Bentleyville, the daughter of the late John A. and Hazel Sopko Jones. She met the love of her life, Thomas D. Prentice, Sr. and they were married on February 13, 1960 until his passing on January 4, 2013.

Florence was a homemaker and “farmer’s wife,” spending years raising their children and working on the family farm. She would later work at her children’s business and for years was affectionately known as “Mama Flo.” She enjoyed hosting and attending frequent family gatherings, taking trips with family, and playing cards with family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Thomas Jr. and Marlene Prentice of Forward Township, Rhonda Gorham and husband William of Rostraver, and Rachelle Day and husband Ken of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Hannah Palotta and husband Ian, Chad Day, and Emily Prentice; siblings, John E. “Jack”  Jones and wife Janet, Robert Jones, Patricia Luketich, Karen Watson, Harry Jones and wife Karen, and Cheryl Adams and husband Keith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Nancy Jones, and brothers-in-law, Andrew Luketich and Bruce Watson.

At Mrs. Prentice’s request, services were private. Burial was in the Monongahela Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., Monongahela.

Not sure what to say?

Florence was a wonderful sister and sister-in-law. She had an abundance of common sense, wit, and character. She was loving to her family/friends and much loved by family/friends. She will remain deep in our hearts and minds until our final breath. Sadly missed!

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Flo’s passing. I have fond childhood memories of her from the times I spent with her on Ridge Rd. My thoughts and prayers to Tommy, Rhonda, Rachelle and your families.

We were very sorry to hear of your moms death. We used to get together with some of the Peoples gas families at your mom and dad's house for Christmas years ago. With deepest sympathy to all of you. James and Rose Marie Donovan and family.

My condolences to the family. Such a sweet, sweet lady I will always remember! We had a lot of good laughs at our card games.

So very sorry for your loss. We are thinking of you all.

Mrs. Prentice is such a wonderful example of kindness and family values. Sending love and prayers to the Prentice & Jones families.

To all of Flo’s family, Please accept our deepest sympathy at this difficult time. I always enjoyed seeing her for lunch at EatnPark on her casino outings. My fondest memory is her and my Aunt Shirley and that ugly Christmas ornament they passed around for years pranking each other. Remember all the great times you’ve all had. May she Rest In Peace. We are very sorry for your loss.

In loving memory of a wonderful and admired person. I have lots of terrific childhood memories spent at the farm. Deepest sympathy to Rachelle, Rhonda, Tommy, and all the extended family.

Our deepest sympathy. We will always remember the fun times with Flo at the farm with 4H and the Grange. Prayers of comfort for your family.
