Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel Obituary

FLETCHER, Mr. Floyd-age 65, of Flint, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 24, 2014 with 10:30 am family hour at Word of Life Christian Church 460 W. Atherton Rd. Flint, MI 48507. Pastor George Wilkinson officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Fletcher will be Gracelawn Community Cemetery. Calling hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Floyd Fletcher was born March 28, 1949 in Tarry Arkansas, to John and Ozella Fletcher. Floyd was reared in Flint, MI by his stepmother (Alzie) and his father. Floyd graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1967. Floyd was enlisted in the Army for 3 years. He also studied Optical Science at Ferris State University and Mathematics at the U of M - Flint. Floyd retired from GM in July 1987. He was a master electrician and loved doing carpentry work.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Former wife and dearest friend Irma Jeannie Fletcher; stepchildren, Jamie Johnson and James Ray Johnson; grandchildren, Faranda Rawles and 7 others; five great-grandchildren; father, John Fletcher; siblings, Mildred Jean Johnson, Carlis (Steve) Logan, Lenora Reyes, Madeline Fletcher, Diane Fletcher, Fred (Kim)Fletcher, Jackie (Ron)King of Flint MI; Lee(Lorna) Fletcher of Battle Creek, MI; Erich Fletcher and Ron Wright of McHenry, IL and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Floyd was preceded in death by mothers, Ozella Fletcher and Alzie Lee Fletcher; siblings, John Fletcher Jr., Melvin Fletcher, Dr. Evelyn Harris Head and Dewayne Fletcher.

The family expresses great gratitude to Genesys Hospital ICU unit and Dr. Kelvin Callaway who cared for our loved one during his illness. May god bless each of you and sustain a lasting peace within your souls.
