FORREST DAVID LAIDLEY

I knew DAVE through Lions' rugby and he was a great captain of our team.

David's introduction to the Chicago Lions Rugby Football Club by Denis Dunne in 1968 was most timely. His leadership on and off the pitch added a momentum which tòok the Club to next stage of it's fledglng growth. I became a close friend of this most talented man and on his sad demise am reminded of wonderful memories. My sincere condolences to Diane and all the Laidley clan. Michael Flahive, Dublin, Ireland.

I recently met Dave while collaborating on a project. A project he was passionate about. Hearing of his death has left me feeling lost and speechless. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the Laidley family. May the Lord be with you all during this difficult period of life. May you find comfort in God's word.

There are people you just never forget or lose affection for no matter how short the time together or how long the years apart. For me, dear Dave was one of those people. We met at Glenbrook High School in 1958, hung out in the same crowd through those years, continued to say in touch throughout our college years. Dave, or "Forrey" as we called him on the diving squad at Glenbrook, a great guy, wonderful team member and a calm, strong leader. Sorry to see him pass.

David was a leader. Having played for the Chicago Lions when he was captain, I believe his natural leadership went well beyond the game of rugby.
