The following was originally submitted to the Evansville Courier Press:

Dear Editor;

The world is a little less complete today, made so by the absence of a man whose impact and influence time shall neither forget nor lessen. That man was once my stepfather, Forrest Orr, and while I never had the pleasure of meeting his wife Ruth or visiting Evansville, I feel safe in saying that he died Wednesday as a contributing and beloved member of your community.
