Forrest Sadler

Lafayette - A Funeral Service will be celebrated Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Forrest Sadler, 94, who passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his residence in Lafayette.

Visitation will be observed on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 9:00 am until the time of the Masonic Services at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Chris Blanchard, Pastor and Al Franks, Lay Minister both of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lafayette, will officiate.

Forrest was born May 18, 1921 in Troup, TX and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. A proud veteran, he served as a Machinist's Mate Third Class (CB) in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Forrest was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and served on the board of the Salvation Army for many years. He and his wife, Esther, were members of the Krewe of Zeus and Petroleum Club. Forrest worked as a general manager in the oil industry. He was a parishioner of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lafayette. Most of all, Forrest loved spending time with his family and friends.

Forrest is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Esther of Lafayette, LA; his two sons, Kenneth Sadler and his wife, Linda of Denver, CO and Doug Sadler and his wife, Nadine of Lafayette; three brothers, Loys Sadler, and his wife, Aurora of Longview, TX, Byron Sadler and his wife, Sandra of Kerrville, TX and Bill Sadler, and his wife, Linda of Shreveport, LA; and his sister, Mabel Pickens and her husband, Walter of Oakwood, TX; four grandchildren, Larry Sadler, Leigh Ann Eberhart, Kelly Sims and Stephanie Hillger; seven great-grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, Tyler, Trevor, Luke, Micah, and Nate and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bevie Byron and Jeffie Kee Sadler.

Pallbearers will be Byron Sadler, Bill Sadler, Larry Sadler, Trevor Hillger, Al Thomas and Ken Beck.

Honorary Bearer is Loys Sadler.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care given to Forrest and his family. A special thank you to his caregivers Wanda Faye Dugas, Catherine Richard, his nurse of Hospice of Acadiana, JoAnn Harrington and the social worker, Lisa Caffery.
