Deek will be remembered by the Colson Family as a true inspiration to us all. He made a great impact on me and my brother's life. Coming from California to New Mexico Deek made grass volleyball fun for me. I believe he made a great impact on Kerry Breen's life as well. Deek was my best bud in college and taught me how to loosen up and have some fun. Will never forget or stop loving you bro:{ You have to smile when you then of Deek.

I'm so sad about the loss of my great friend "Squealer/Squeals". He was taken much too soon! My heart is with Kim, Alex, Andy and the whole Smith family. Squeals was the funniest person I know. I can't count the times where he made me laugh until my stomach hurt. I'll miss his energy, and our deep conversations, philosophizing late into the night about the important things in life - our relationships and living to the fullest while we're here, because you never know what the future holds....

Our hearts are with the entire Smith family. Deek Junior lived a life full of adventure and had the biggest warmest heart. We will miss him dearly.

Am so heartbroken over the loss of my dear nephew, Deek! The two of us shared a very close and special bond from the time Deek was a little baby, which continued throughout his childhood years. I loved him so. My deepest condolences to his wife, Kim and their two children. May Deek rest in peace with our Lord in heaven for eternity.

So so sorry, shocked and devastated to hear about the loss of your Deek. I knew him as a little boy throughout the years. Sending prayers, strength and blessed thoughts your way...Paula Minotta

Always on my mind.
