Frances Ann Burns, 69, died early September 11 after battling cancer for several years. Frances was relentlessly curious, a person with an encyclopedic memory and eclectic interests who was always ready with a story and an easy laugh, sometimes at her own expense. Her affecting speaking voice,...

Not sure what to say?

Frances was a college roommate and lifelong friend of mine. I miss her more than I can say.

Frances (once upon a time, Frankie) and I became good friends at St. John's and stayed in touch through the years. Her incisive intelligence, generous sympathies, and courage will be deeply missed.

We will miss Frances' insights at our Bible Study which begins for this year on Sunday, Oct. 1. A few days before she passed away Frances wrote to say she could not join us this year. We will remember Frances giftof knowledgeable, honest faith.

I'm so sorry to learn of Fran's passing and offer my prayers to her family. I'm glad I had the chance to get to know and work with Fran while on the NJSPJ board. Fran was a truly unique person who will be missed by all who knew her.

It is very hard to lose someone you love. My sincere hope for the family is that God's Word will comfort you through the coming days. He is a refuge for those in distress. Psalms 9:9

I am glad that our paths crossed, if only briefly, from 2000 until 2004 when I served as the Vicar of her parish church, St. Michael's in Trenton.
Our conversations were always interesting and thoughtful. May Frances rest in peace.

I wish I'd known Frances. I met her when she was a toddler and I was a teenager. We connected when she braved awful weather to attend the funeral of our mother, her Aunt Florine, February 2003. I had always admired her: St. John's University! a reporter carrying on the tradition of our Grandpa Stone, her mother, our Aunt Frances, her father, our Cousin Dugald; her wizardry with words. There is a hole in the world that now must be filled with memories of her works and days. I wish I'd known...

Her wit and cheeky humor.
Her love of people.
