Dr. Frances A. Karnes

My condolences to the family and all who were touched by Dr. Karnes. I was one of the first students/employees of the Center for Gifted Education. Dr. Karnes taught and encouraged me so much. Her motto was always Read as Much as You Can!

What a gift to Hattiesburg Dr. Karnes was! Her programs for gifted children helped them stay interested in school. She taught teachers how to challenge gifted pupils while supporting them as they struggle with being different. She was supportive of me when I was asked to teach the pioneer class for first graders identified as gifted in the HPSD.
